digital tintype

your pictures in silver

Your pictures hand-crafted into tintypes

creating a timeless object from a digital image, your photographs made into works of art with a process invented in victorian times

A picture rendered in pure silver on sheet metal

How about a tintype for your ‘tin’ 10th wedding anniversary?

Tintypes were one of the first forms of photograph. Invented in 1848, the process makes an image using silver on sheet metal which will last for generations. The tintype studio makes images from your pictures into one-off pieces, true originals.
Handmade from start to finish, the process produces photographs which are beautiful and timeless.

to finish the job, grab a bespoke tintype holder to set it off beautifully

Hnndmade from reclaimed, vintage pine and cut to show off your tintype.

Please note, this is a hand-made process and we think the ‘marks of the maker’ are beautiful and what makes every tintype unique. So if you are expecting an exact unblemished copy of your digital image on metal we would suggest a tintype is not for you. There are numerous commercial printers who will print your image on aluminium which will render near perfect results, far cheaper than us. But if you want something crafted in the darkroom from start to finish, made in exactly the same way Victorians created those early images in the 1850’s, by one of the few tintype practitioners in the UK then we would LOVE to hear from you.

As it’s a handmade process it does take a bit of time. We will normally get your picture out to you within a week but it can take a bit longer at busy times. However if you need to expedite your delivery, give us a buzz and we will do our best.
